AND I SOUGHT FOR A MAN

AND I SOUGHT FOR A MAN
‘And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.’
Eze 22:30-31

Wherever we are as believers in Christ, we are strategically placed there by God for the salvation of souls. We need to have that consciousness and be concerned about the salvation of those around us. We should reach out to those around us and pull them out of the path that heads towards their destruction. Everything may seem OK for them but that is as far as they can see. They are heading towards their doom and eternal seperation from Almighty God unless they change turn to the Lord.

‘There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.’
Pro 16:25

Jesus commissioned us and said, ‘go into all the world and preach the goodness..’ This is God’s strategic plan: He has positioned His children in different places and positions, so He can reach out through them to save those around them in those places. There are people with fake smiles on their faces, but on the inside they are dying, and heading to hell! If everyone around you, as a believer, went to hell, then the purpose of God placing you in their midst is defeated! You are not among them to follow their ways, but to fish them for Christ and His eternal Kingdom. You are a fisher of men.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Luk 19:10

Our Lord Jesus clearly states what His mission is, and what that of the devil is, on the earth, and we should ask ourselves, which of these are fulfilling on the arth in the lives of men? Is it of the Lord, or that of the devil? And Paul declared that he would not be ashamed of the gospel, because he understood its power tobring slvation to the souls of men.

‘The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.’
Joh 10:10

The true state of an unbeliever is stated in 2 Corinthians 4:4,

‘But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.’
2 Corinthians 4:3-5

There is a blind on their hearts. They know not at what they stumble. What name do you call your curtains on your windows? Blinds. And what do those blinds do? To keep sunlight out. Another name for it is a veil. That veil is on their heart so that they will not see the light of the gospel. But when the gospel is preached and there is faith, that veil is taken away. And this is why we should aways request for His power backup everytime we stepout to preach the gospel. You are representing Him. The gospel is about Him and not you. So His power backs up the words you preach, and signs follow.

‘And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.’

THE POWER OF A MARITAL FOCUS

THE POWER OF A MARITAL FOCUS
‘Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.’
Pro 18:22

Any man that always prefers his wife above other women will also experience divine preference or favor amongst men. The word ‘prefer’ means to be in the habit of choosing something or someone rather than another, or to like better. Note carefully the tense of the word,’find’, used in the scripture above: it did not say, he who found, but he who findeth or finds. That is apresent simple tense. A present simple tense is used to state an action which occurs on a regular basis in present. These actions include habitual or repeated actions, scheduled actions occurring on regular basis; and facts that stand true all the time.
The writer of that verse in proverbs was not referring to a one time event, but something being repeated over and over again. He was not referring to finding and marrying the wife of your dreams, but to how you are relating with that lady you married on a daily basis, after marriage. Do you still love her as you did that first time? You chose her as your wife. You werent forced to do so. And there were several others but you chose her! She was more attractive to you than several others. She caught your fancy above others. That was at the beginning. But what is the story like now? Does she still catch your fancy as before? What changed? Do you still rate her above others? Do you still find her more attractive to you than others? Love is a thing of choice; you chose to marry her because she was your choice amongst many others. Loving her was a matter of choice then. Loving her now should still be a matter of choice. You should deliberately choose to do it and to do it continuously, because she is yours to love, for life! That was what you vowed to her on your wedding day, right? So its really notabout how you feel, but its more about your will. You should choose to do it and to keep doing it over and over again! And that is what the writer of that verse meant by the phrase, whoso findeth a wife. It means whosoever decides to choose his wife over and over again, shall obtain the favour of God. And why is that? Because God is the author of marriage. It was His idea, not man’s.
The first man, that God created, Adam, seemed comfortable having animals as his companions. But God wasn’t OK with it. It wasn’t a perfect picture of what He would describe as good. He wanted someone that could relate on a better level with the man. And so He made the woman AND BROUGHT HER TO THE MAN. That was to be the very first marriage on the planet. God originated marriage, and He alone has the blueprint of what it should be like. He also carefully watches what happens in marriages to see those who are sticking to His standards, and to reward them for it. That is where His favour comes in. So everytime you choose your wife above others, everytime you prefer her to all other ladies out there, no matter how she looks, you position yourself to experience God’s favour. And favour, according to a great man of God, Bishop David Oyedepo, is what determines the limits of every man’s destiny. It is favour that eases life for you as a man. It will terminate your struggles, and enhance your progress and prosperity on the earth.
God shows keen interest in how you terat your wife, from time to time. This is because marriage is not just about the two of you, but God also is involved. It is one of those things that the Bible describes as A THREE-FOLD CORD THAT IS NOT EASILY BROKEN. From this, you can deduce that marriage is a triangle involving the man, his wife and God. And a marriage partner is a gift from God and should be seen as such. God provides you with a marriage partner to help you fulfill your purpose on the earth. Marriage is not an end in itself, but a means to an end.
So when you focus on, stay committed to and celebrate that wife which God has given to you, you release the favour of God into operation in your life as a man.

‘Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.’
Mal 2:14

‘Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.’

EFFECTIVE PARENTING

EFFECTIVE PARENTING
Anything is considered effective if it is producing the right or expected result. And parenting simply put, is the process of raising and educating a child from birth until adulthood. It implies carefully guiding a child to know how to be successful in life as a person.

‘Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’
Pro 22:6

Parental laxity is oftentimes and in most cases, at the root of most societal vices. Most parents are simply ‘too busy’ to spend quality time with their children, let alone teach them the basic morals of life. And these children are left to themselves and usually end up acquiring and imbibing ungodly patterns. When you do not teach children the ways of God, they will naturally imbibe the ways of the world. Most issues plaguing the society today can be largely traced to the failure of parents or guardians in passing basic godly standards to their children.
In the Bible, the Israelites were instructed to pass on to their children, divine commands stated in scriptures on how to live their lives, and they were to do it diligently.

‘And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.’
Deu 6:6-9

One major way to curb societal vices is to start at a foundational level, of imbibing and inculcating sound moral values in the lives of our children. This is one of the major ingredients that make an effective parent. And the best and most proven of all moral values to inculcate in your child can be found in the Bible. Teach your child to know and understand God’s perspective on different issues of life. He will grow up with an excellent mindset and be able to make quality decisions concerning different aspects of his life. The heart of a child is likened to wet clay, and impressions made on their hearts through diligent guidance and counselling will set, stick and grow with them.
One thing that works powerfully in raising children is intercession, and it is the art of continuously standing in the gap for your children in prayers and asking for God’s intervention in the affairs of their lives. That way you are bringing the power of God to bear upon their lives to steer them in the way they should go. And by so doing, you are spiritually watering seeds of good morals in their hearts and fending off anything that could corrupt or steal those good seeds. You are erecting supernatural walls of defence around their destinies to protect them from satanic intrusion. When parents wholeheartedly lift up their voice to God in prayers for their children, heaven responds. But how many parents would sincerely set the time to pray for their children? In the book of lamentations, there is specific call to parents to call to God for His intervention when things do not go well in the lives of their children,

‘Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.’
Lam 2:19

One major show of laxity with parents in raising their children, is in the area of spending time to pray to God for their children. Most parents cannot even last up to ten minutes in prayer for their children. God has all the power to make your children become all He created them to be in life, and He has the power to turn any issue of concern regarding your children to testimonies. But there is need to pray to God for them if we desire tosee the power of God manifested in their lives. And praying for your children doesnt mean you are speaking just anything that you think is right, but that you are declaring specific words from scripture concerning them. As a parent, you are like a farmer and the destinies of your children represents the farm. And God has provided you with spiritual seeds to sow into the destinies of your children. These are specific promises of God in scriptures concerning your children. When you speak these words in prayer continuously to God concerning your children,God will multiply these seeds to yield a harvest of blessings in the lives of your children. For instance, in Isaiah 54:13, God promises peace concerning your children. And you turn this to prayer for your children, calling for God to bring that peace into manifestation in the lives of your children. This way you are comitting God to bring to pass what He has already promised. Another scripture promises that your children will experience signs and wonders. Then another promises the outpouring of God’s blessing upon your children. These are but a few of all the wonderful promises which God wants to bring to pass in the lives of your children. But He seeks an intercessor.

‘And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.’
Eze 22:30

And whatever you speak in faith to God in prayer concerning your children, He is faithful to bring to pass in reality in the lives of your children. So let every parent rise up in the place of prayer and declare, ‘O LORD, let the influence of Your Word prevail against the influence of the world in the lives and destinies of my children.

The Evil Dispeller

The Israelites were slaves in Egypt and they dwelt in the land of Goshen. God had promised to bring them out of Egypt with a mighty hand, so He sent Moses to undertake that almost impossible task. The tyrant ruler Pharoah wasn’t going to let them go easily, so God brought several kinds of plagues upon Egypt to prove His point. But the people of Israel were supernaturally shielded by God from those evil plagues. That is powerful!
The experience of the Israelites in the land of Egypt has a great message to impart to us today. That experience was simply a shadow of things to come. God had better things in store for His people. What they experienced was a shadow, but today, as children of God, we have the substance. Today God doesn’t protect His people plagues or epidemics, He also protects His people from evil schemings and machinations of the enemy. He protects His people from everything that is evil. But God doesn’t just protect His people from evil, He dispels the evil, that is, He scatters it and causes that evil to disappear!

‘The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.’
Zep 3:15

In the verse above, the scripture states, ‘the LORD is in the midst of thee..thou shalt not see evil anymore..’ Note the phrase, not see; it implies that the evil will not materialize. So even if the enemy intends any evil against you, it will not come to pass, it will not stand! Why? Because the One that dispels evil is inside of you! So you need to have this consciousness, that God is the One that has the ability to scatter anything that’s evil coming at you, He will cause it to be dissipated before it ever gets to you. For you to understand this better, you should picture yourself as being surrounded with an invisible and impenetrable supernatural shield of protection that no evil can penetrate or pass through, because that is exactly how it is.

‘For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.’
Psa 5:12

‘But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.’
Psa 3:3

‘Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.’
Psa 59:11

So God has a shield of protection around you and all that’s yours, and any evil that is intended at you gets scattered because of that shield. You are untouchable, because He that touches you touches the apple of His eyes. You are that important to Him and you should know that and be conscious of it. And understand that He is in you, and is bigger and greater than anything evil that is coming at you. And He will scatter that evil before it will ever get to you.

‘He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.’
Job 5:12

In the verse above, the word ‘disappoint’ means to scatter. So God scatters the evil schemings of the crafty or the enemy; He renders their plans null and void before it will ever get fulfilled. So you really don’t have to bother yourself about anyone planning an evil against you, because your God, the Evil Dispeller, is always on your case. And He will scatter their evil schemings before it will ever get executed. Alleluyah! And no wonder God says we should, as much as lie within us, try to be at peace with everyone, and not to render evil for evil. The battle is not yours but the LORD’s!

‘See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.’
1Th 5:15

‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord..’
Heb 12:14

The Greater One is in you. Be conscious of this. He has a supernatural shield around your life that forbids evil and He will dispel any evil that is targetted at you. The Bible says in Psalm 91:10-11, ‘There shall no evil happen to thee, for He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways.’ The LORD is in the midst of you. You shall not see evil anymore in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.

You are untouchable because he that touches you touches the apple of God’s eyes.

The Magnetic Power Of God’s Blessing

When I was a kid, I used to get fascinated with the way magnets pull every little metallic thing thats within their environment to themselves. And most times, they seem to hang on so tightly to those things that you have to exert some energy to disengage. Apart from this power to attract, the magnet also demonstrates another ability to repel other magnets when the same sides called like poles face each other. In physics, these two characteristics are referred to as ATTRACTION and REPULSION, and are caused by an invisible field that surrounds the magnet referred to as a MAGNETIC FIELD. With this understanding, you would easily appreciate how the BLESSING of God works in our lives as believers. God created all things and we can learn about spiritual realities from the physical things He created; we can learn about the invisible things from the visible things we see.

‘For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse..’
Rom 1:20

The blessing of God works pretty much like that magnetic field that surrounds the magnet causing attarction and repulsion. The blessing talks about the supernatural force-field that surrounds your life when you are in Christ. And being in Christ means you have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour into your heart. It implies that you are saved. And it is clearly obvious from scriptures, that until you receive Jesus into your life and become a child of God, you NEVER can have access to His blessing or any other glorious thing He has to give. This is because Jesus is the only Way to gaining access to God the Father as mentioned in John 14:6,

‘Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.’
John 14:6

Jesus is like that ladder in Genesis 28:13-14, that connected the earth to heaven and God stood above it! So when Jesus comes into your heart, He establishes a supernatural connection between you and God the Father and then you will have access to all the blessings in heavenly places,

‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ..’
Eph 1:3

These heavenly blessings are clearly listed as power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory and blessing in Revelations 5:12,

‘Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.’
Rev 5:12

Did you observe that these blessings are seven in number? I like to imagine these as the heavenly rainbow of God’s blessings, and the BLESSING is one of these heavenly blessings. And coming back to the subject of blessing, we mentioned earlier that it is like that magnetic field. Everything in the Kingdom of God works by faith, that means, even if you don’t see it, you believe its there because God says so. Naturally, we believe only what we have seen with our eyes, but in the Kingdom of God, you believe it and then you see it. And your faith is not based on empty words, it is anchored on the Word of God in scriptures, and God CANNOT lie! Everything He says is what it is. So even if you are a child of God and you do not believe that these things are real and will work for you, they surely won’t! Faith activates the manifestation of everything that is available for you in Christ. When Jesus comes into your heart, He hooks you up to the flow of God’s blessing, much like your gadgets in the home are connected to electrical power. But for you to use those gadgets, you have to turn on the switches! So your faith is like that switch that turns on the blessing of God in your life. When you believe, you are BLESSED!

‘And blessed is she that believed…’
Luke 1:45

When you say someone is blessed, it doesnt just mean that things are going well for him, it means much more than that. It means that the blessing of God is working in that person’s life, so everything he does prospers! The blessing will attract good things to your life and repel evil things. it will bring things into your life that make you happy and repel things that bring sadness and sorrow. It will cause more and more good things to be added to your life and stop evil things that will damage those good things from gaining access to you. It is powerful!

‘The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.’
Pro 10:22

The blessing can be seen as a supernatural-field that surrounds the life of a believing believer, an invisible dome that causes only good things to be sucked in to his life, and will keep him protected from the evil things targetted at his life.

‘For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.’
Psa 5:12

You are ordained to ‘eat’ the good of the land. The evil of the land is not your portion! Just recall what happened to the Israelites in the land of Egypt. All the evils stuffs that came upon the Egyptians did not come near them. They were exempted! The blessing exempted them. And the night before they departed from Egypt, they were told to make requests of their masters, and everything they asked for was given to them freely. So they left with virtually all the wealth of Egypt! That was the blessing again at work.

‘And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.’
Exo 12:36

Oftentimes, you will find this expression in scriptures, that this and that man found favour in the sight of so and so, or that the LORD gave this and that man favour in the sight of so and so. Why is that? This is because when God’s blessing or favour surrounds a man, he is surrounded with a supernatural force-field of favour, and anyone that comes within that field will favour him. Now check out these scriptures,

‘But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.’
Gen 39:21-23

‘And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.’
Est 2:17
